the Benicia City Council announced the appointment of Mario Giuliani as City Manager for the City of Benicia. Giuliani has been serving as Interim City Manager since March 2023, after the retirement of former City Manager, Erik Upson.
Thanks to the 569 Benicia residents who responded to the National Community Survey in January. The results are in, and you can see how Benicia rated on a variety of livability measures compared to previous surveys and compared to households throughout the U.S.
All Benicia residents and businesses are required to conserve water due to damage to the City’s main water line that delivers all drinking water to the City of Benicia. The damage occurred when a hillside collapsed near I-680 and Gold Hill Road, just outside Benicia city limits.
Benicia’s first State of the City event is Feb. 22, 11:30AM – 1:15PM. In addition to comments from the City and Chamber of Commerce, economist Robert Eyler, PhD, will update participants on current economic trends affecting Benicia. Registration is required.

On Friday, April 3, SBA issued the Final Rule for the Paycheck Protection Loan program for Small Businesses. The final rule has four changes from previously reported rulings due to the anticipated high subscription from businesses
The Payroll Protection Loan was passed as part of the Stimulus Package last Friday, March 27. The program is intended to help those businesses affected by the COVID-19 crisis that are keeping employees working.
