the Benicia City Council announced the appointment of Mario Giuliani as City Manager for the City of Benicia. Giuliani has been serving as Interim City Manager since March 2023, after the retirement of former City Manager, Erik Upson.
Thanks to the 569 Benicia residents who responded to the National Community Survey in January. The results are in, and you can see how Benicia rated on a variety of livability measures compared to previous surveys and compared to households throughout the U.S.
All Benicia residents and businesses are required to conserve water due to damage to the City’s main water line that delivers all drinking water to the City of Benicia. The damage occurred when a hillside collapsed near I-680 and Gold Hill Road, just outside Benicia city limits.

The Benicia City Council lifted the City's mask mandate on Feb. 15, 2022, to follow the Solano County Public Health and California Department of Public Health State’s masking requirements.
Benicia City Council adopted a resolution on Aug. 24, 2021, requiring that each person, aged 4 years and over, wear a face covering when in any indoor or enclosed space open to the public. Benicia City Council will review this action in six weeks.
The Governor’s mandatory face covering action follows the unanimous approval of a resolution by Benicia City Council on Tuesday evening mandating the wearing of face coverings in order to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in Benicia. Guidelines can be found here.
